Tanker freight splits into two different jobs under one equipment label: liquid tankers hauling fuel, chemicals, or food-grade liquids like milk, and pneumatic dry-bulk tankers hauling commodities like cement or plastic pellets that get blown in and out rather than poured. Both usually require a tank vehicle endorsement on top of a CDL, and liquid chemical hauling often requires a hazmat endorsement as well, which narrows the pool of qualified drivers compared to dry van or flatbed.
